Ladies and gentlemen this is the Late Show with Johnathan Hernandez!
Question of the day
Throw up your predictions for the Giro!
Giro d´Italia
The first Grand Tour (and some say the most exciting) is on its way and starts tomorrow May 5th. This is why there shall be no guests and we will completely focus on analyzing the tour of the Maglia Rosa. Let´s start with what Sky Sports says about the contenders:
“Colombian climbing ace Nairo Quintana goes into the race as clear favorite and that will be no surprise to anyone who saw his impressive Vuelta a Espana win last year. The Movistar leader bounced back from an illness-affected third-place finish at the Tour de France to beat Chris Froome in the final Grand Tour of 2016 and goes into the Giro on the back of encouraging early season results.
Quintana - who won the 2014 race - is plotting to become the first rider since 1998 to claim the Giro-Tour double but there are a number of rivals aiming to deny him the first part of that challenge.
Defending champion Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida) will certainly push Quintana all the way and his incredible comeback victory in the final days of last year's Giro means he cannot be written off, even if he is trailing in the third week.
Dutchman Steven Kruijswijk (Lotto NL-Jumbo) was leading last year's race until a dramatic crash took him out of contention, so he'll be highly motivated to finish what he started in 2016, while Team Sky duo Geraint Thomas and Mikel Landa will be staging a two-pronged attack for the British team.”
Now, I disagree with some of the aspects of this brief résumé. I don´t think that Bahrain-Merida has the firepower to keep up with Movistar and Sky (Yes, Sky). Movistar fucks up a lot in GT so that is a plus for other contenders. However, Sky has shown us that they are pure perfection, a machine that assures the win for Froome since stage one, showcasing their abilities of magnificent organization and genius tactic. The question however is: Has Geraint Thomas got what it takes to replace Chris Froome? Remember he has already won some serious one week tours, such as Paris-Nice. I also do not think Kruijswijk has got what it takes to compete with Thomas, Quintana, Nibali and Pinot. However, excluding these previous points, I totally agree with Sky Sports. Now let´s see my predictions:

In terms of SC I'd disagree with Greipel being first, Greipel will (history suggests) quit the tour early and so I think someone else will get the SC.
Also I think the Giro has no YC
Lots of interesting questions though
Very interesting, personally the big question marks over Sky are can G last 3 weeks, is Landa back to his previous form and can they manage two captains at once! In terms of Kruijswik I think he could perform much better than you predict, remember he was agonisingly close to beating Nibali last season and Nibali had stronger TMs than he does now.
In terms of SC I'd disagree with Greipel being fir
